Congrats, Media Arts Chair - Jaclyn Bethany!

In Transit is a feature film directed by Jaclyn Bethany (Media Arts Chair), set in small-town Maine, starring Jennifer Ehle, Alex Sarrigeorgiou, and François Arnaud (Heated Rivalry). The film will be released in theaters nationwide by Factory25 in November, with screenings in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, among other cities.

When a complacent young bartender living in small-town Maine agrees to model for an existentially floundering painter on an artist's retreat, both women must confront their preconceptions of what makes a good life.

In Transit premiered in competition at the 2025 Edinburgh International Film Festival, screened in competition at the Deauville American Film Festival alongside feature films directed by Kristen Stewart and Scarlett Johansson, and had its North American premiere at NewFest, where it won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature. The film also screened at the New Hampshire Film Festival, where it won the Best Narrative Feature Award, the Maine International Film Festival, and RiverRun, among many others. The film received strong critical support, with Deadline writing: "Jennifer Ehle and Alex Sarrigeorgiou shine in Jaclyn Bethany's hushed yet deeply felt drama of art and desire." Screen Daily called the film a "melancholy chamber piece" and Film Threat called it “true indie magic."
